The Dye Thermal Lens has a history of being one of the most durable lenses on the market. With the release of the Dye I5 paintball goggle, Dye has decided to keep the lens system the same from the I4 paintball mask. This makes an easy transition for players who may own both mask systems.

The Dye i5 lens is available in 10+ color ways to match whatever color combo you are going for with your gear. Be sure to look around at the different i5 lens colors available before you decide on one.

This lens is a thermal lens, this means it prevents fogging while playing. The thermal lens is actually two lenses sealed together. If you look closely at the paintball lens picture you are able to see the black lining around the lens, this is the seal between the two layers.

 Lens Buying Guide:

  • Mirrored and Smoke Lens - Best for Daylight (Sunny)
  • Gradient/Fade and Clear Lens - Best for Overcast (Clouds)

I5 Paintball Lens Maintenance

Once you purchase your I5 paintball mask lens, you want to make sure to take good care of it. Some players think you should use chemicals to clean the front of it after you play, this is NOT recommended. Some solutions like Windex can actually ruin the coating on the outside of the lens and remove the color. What we recommend to use on your new paintball lens is just a microfiber cloth and a damp rag. If there is actual dirt on your lens you want to be sure to get the dirt off without pressing down too hard and scratching the lens. Once the dirt is removed, use the soft microfiber cloth to dry off and remove any remaining paint or dirt residue. Also be sure to never submerge your thermal lens completely under water. This can cause the seals between the two lenses to leak and your lens will then fog up.

Functional, glass canister.
I like the design, I really like the fact that it’s glass, not plastic. Easy to extract the air out, I don’t have to do an extended work out to pump the valve, easy release. The only thing is the part when I need to open the unit to get my coffee beans out. All you need to do is just twist the lid, the glass container makes me a little nervous, but just grab from the bottom part to open it and it’s fine! I’m happy with it, I might buy again to store more coffee!! Great product though!!

Fits Sage Bambino Plus
Works flawlessly with Sage (Breville) Bambino Plus. It even comes with a straight basket which is an upgrade for the machine! People complaining about the magnets need to use their brains to turn first, pull second.

Magnets fell out. Everything else works well
Magnets holding the back piece fell out. Other than that it works as advertised.

Really Cool
This is actually a well made portafilter. It was such a good idea to be able to have a nice WDT tool built in that doesn’t take up some extra counter space or anything. It minimizes clutter and just was a good idea so you always have it handy. Definitely would recommend.

Fine basket, lousy magnets: Look elsewhere
Build is nice, solid and the baskets fit snuggly without being too hard to remove. The WDT tool works well and came with a surfeit of needles. HOWEVER The tiny magnets holding the WDT in the handle aren’t glued in place and now come FLYING out when the tool is removed. One or two pull free and then shoot across the unit, pulling others out and ending up somewhere in the kitchen. Fortunately (because they’re REALLY small), they form a small column making it somewhat easier to track down. But it’s such a nuisance I now leave the tool out, so there’s a small dangerous hedgehog of verrrry thin needles in my kitchen we need to work around. Sub-optimal, sorta defeats the purpose of in-handle tool.
